Origin: Zhejiang Province, Hangzhou
One of China’s most legendary teas. With a 1200 year old history, our Dragon Well is grown and harvested from the mountains of the village of Long Jing. Centuries ago, the village suffered from a drought. To end it, a Taoist priest suggested the farmers make an offering to the dragon that lived in a nearby well. They offered their tea, the rains came and the rest is history. To this day, the well exists near the monastery and if you touch the water it will swirl with the sinuous movements of a dragon.
Our organically-grown Dragon Well is hand-picked from tender spring shoots then pan-fired to give the leaves their distinctive hand-flattened look. Dragon Well yields a pale yellow liquor, a fragrance that is subtle and refined, and a taste that is smooth, slightly nutty with a hint of citrus.
